I was going to Home Depot to pick up some chaulk (te he he he)
and noticed a new Subaru Tech over by the bingo hall/dollar store/TJ maxx.

I went and talked to the guy and he said $60 an hour for installs which is the cheapest around.

I'm gonna see waht he charges for clutch installs :)

He is a certified Subaru Tech and seems like a pretty cool guy.

I'm gonna have him install an AFR gauge for me this week.

I'll let you all know how it goes.

it tucked in back, its not too hard to spot. i called them to check on a price for a 60,000 and they were extremly expensive and the person talking the calls was a complete idiot, although i know he wasn't the mechanic

Just got some work done on my car there, the two guys that were there when i stopped in seemed to be decent fellas. I had a problem swapping my downpipe out for a scooby sport shorty. The bolts that connected the turbo manifold to the downpipe were seized enough so that i could not get them off, even with a torch to heat them up. They took my car in and had to snap the studs. They had them replaced with brand new studs, brand new gaskets at both ends and put back together with the new downpipe in a little under 2 1/2 hours, which seems reasonable to me. probably would have taken me all day, and time is something i dont have right at the moment. So to sum it up, i would recommend this shop to anyone, based on my first experience.

Not surprised.. My parents sold their year-old 900 not because the car was too expensive, but the Gary Blake service was so pricey.. And that was in 1985. [!]

Brandon - give us a full report on the shop & the exhaust. Pics a plus.

Funny, that's what came to my mind as well. I remember stories of the $85-$100 oil changes, and claims that if it was done anywhere else, any warantees would be voided.

Go, Gary Blake, Go! I can't believe that place is still standing.

if anyone needs to get suby OEM parts cheap, i found a very very good dealer in PA that will take suby bucks that dont even have ur name on it. Pricing is far below subaruwrxparts.com and exeters parts quote, so if you are looking for something relatively light (nuts, bolts, gaskets, plastics), this would probably be a cheaper way to get them

I recently ordered the following for ~150 shipped ($100 worth in suby bucks which I paid $75 for)

OEM Front and Rear pads (this alone was 200$+ from exeter subaru)
3 Wipers (2 front 1 rear)
2 bolts that are using for my bov to itnercooler
4 plastic snap its that hold down the engine cover (exeter charges 4$ a pop for these)
BPV gasket

I paid and received the package in less than a week.

So I went to these guys today and had them install my exhaust and kartboy shift bushings (sorry Terry, wanted to come up to Belmont to do it but my schedule is ****ty plus I would've ended up spending the same amount of money but in gas rather then labor).

The guys there are good guys. Chatted it up a bit with each of them, think it was Steve who did my install but I might be wrong. Like I said though, both good guys, fun to talk to and their rates are the best around ($52 for my labor cost for 45 minutes of work with my own parts).

I grabbed a bunch of cards of theirs to pass around to people I see mentioning they need work done on their Subaru. Just ask me for one if you want one.

I hope everyone that goes there has as good as an experience as I did.

And since I know they said they've checked out the site I'll take a second to say hello and thanks to both Paul and Steve.

excellent.

i'm doing new sprints and maybe camber plates in may and then putting the summer tires back on so alignment will be necessary
