I am hoping a few from the Mass area may have some info and insight on autocross. I have never been to an event but the thought is very interesting. I have never raced a car (or driven a car in competition format) but I spent a few years racing motocross in New England for sometime.

If you have info please PM or send an email.

Thanks,

Tom

Fun stuff and you will get addicted, a few of us go to the Auto X up at NHIS almost each event. Almost every week they have a race, different and challenging courses too. If you dont wanna go to NH, look at the auto X event at Fort Devens at the retired AFB. Ive been down there twice for events, the first kicked ass but the next one the event coordinator made me take my camera off the car, because it might fall off. I didnt like him. Besides that devens Rules! Big 1-2 minute racing and you get to use 3rd gear occasionally. Thats unheard of at NHIS.

When summer comes around let us know if you want to come up, i think the last event of this year we had about 5 members racing at NHIS.

Robk0000 --- thanks for the reply. I am interested and I have heard about Ft. Devens holding events. Is there anything I would need to do to be eligible? I drive an 06 Legacy (non-turbo , I know... I wish I opted for it) completely stock.

Is there a website that I could learn more ?

As the summer gets closer I would enjoy meeting up and at an event.

Thanks again.

Tom

Well not really, if you plan on racing several events, get a sccnh or mass license. Its like $25. with that you pay $25 -30 per event, otherwise you pay $40-50 per event.

Besides the license, which doesnt require any test or anything, just sign up at sccnh.org or at the first Event. Event listings/results and rules can be found at sccnh.org

The best way to race is register prior to the event, Most sccnh events are limited to number of drivers, mainly because they want each driver to get a certain number of races in, usually around 6-8 per day. Preregistration opens up really early, you can register for the entire season or just a certain event. go to http://www.myautoevents.com and register, from there you can sign up and choose classes and whatever possible.

Now as for your car class, your going to be in a Stock class, possibly DS pr GS, D-G being different class, and S=Stock. im not positive, your better off asking the inpection guys at the event. My car is in FSP, F=Flywheel, S=Street, P=Prepared.
theres abbreviations listed on sccnh, but i couldnt find them just now,

Ask KC on nasioc, (http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/member.php?u=442) i believe he is the one that runs scca events in Mass. We post up events on this forum as well, dates, times and locations, im sure we will go down to Devens once this year, I dont remeber anyone else besides me going down last year.

Ya I am bout 12 minutes from there. Will be racing at all the SCCNH ones this year, maybe some others. As always, if someone wishes to spend the night here as always, they are welcomed.

Yeah especially for the STI crowd who can actually get rotation off the showroom floor.

In the future it is going to be RWD for me!

WOW... a number of guys participate. Thats great.. I look forward to the events and meeting a few of you as well.

Now if only winter would hurry up and get over with it.

The reason I posted initially.... I was reading the latest issue of subiesport mag and they did an article on one of their writers attending a similar event (in a legacy turbo). I started feeling the itch.

I'm game for some action this spring.

I will however get my ass handed handed to me if I get put with cars of similar handling :(

You wil be getting crushed in your class Randy. Your class is full of people with race R comp tires.

i have never won in FSP, or even got close. everyone else uses R compounds, dont tell anyone but i always enroll in the Wrx street mod class. not sure what it was, but i was competetive.

You should try the car racing. I know you'll love it. Last February I've attended the Budweiser Shootout , it's a non-points paying events of the 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series held in Florida. I met 'em, the car racing enthusiasts. The event featured in autopartswarehouse (http://autopartswarehouse.supersized.org) and technology on wheels (http://techonwheels.blogspot.com/). Check it out man. :D

hahahaha.

STX, Someone would be like what? You aren't STX! CHeater!

I would win STX if I went down there.

Wellllll hmmm. I just got bored and was looking through the rules again. Maybe I will come back down into STX and whoop up on you guys. All I have to do is leave my rear seats in. I am not breaking any rules.

Same here man! I love car racing but never try to race. Just love to watch, especially my buds is one of the racer too. I suggest the Ford GT-40 is one hell of a car. Goodluck man! Hope you enjoy...
