Kaizen Tuning's 2010 WRX

VF52
Walbro 255
K&N Intake
Perrin inlet tube
Crawford catted downpipe
TSUDO catback
Grimmspeed solenoid
Perrin TMIC

Tuning notes:

Stock BOV starting to flutter out and scream bloody murder at 19 psi
19.5 psi flat to 16 psi at redline
11.0 tapering to 10.8 AFR
Conservative timing
Pump or small inlet leak: car liked to lean out up top, more power to be made. We will re-visit this soon.

lol.... yeah. I've got a forge and red springs on the way.

Stupid plastic oem pos. I'll catch that 2010 STI SE yet ;)

We've got a little friendly competition between us.

So is the competition for #s or 1/4 mile times??

He's an old buddy of mine when I was living in NY ... we're playing a numbers game of powerband numbers to value ratio. I doubt we'll be racing in a straight line, that would be a contest of transmission and differentials too.

At this rate, it seems like the last man standing with an OEM clutch too... :spin:

When did they change the BPV to plastic on the wrx?? (guessing 08 or 09)

Nice looking map and even with the plastic bpv still holds boost well till redline :)

Yeah I had to replace my stock bov too. It started leaking at 18 psi for me.

What do you think Kaizen can push for boost on the VF52 with the supporting mods he has?

Right where he has it now is fine considering the Perrin TMIC.

The wrx BPV's are plastic, and looked a lot like the mazdaspeed3 units but those were stiffer, I could get 22psi out of them so I didn't bother with one for this car. Turns out the spring is much weaker :( I'm hoping if I slap the forge on there it would smooth out the hump loss from 3500-5k where the STI has a smoother arch.

Boots holds until the higher rpm range because it tapers down a bit... it's angry for sure though, I'm just waiting for UPS to arrive.

Ready for re-tune soon...

Got a forge BPV with a bag full of springs to try out as well...

We'll see if we can smooth out those dips :)

*We were deliberately softer on the boost/AVCS on peak torque for clutch longevity

This worked out great. Zero knock on my crappy 93 cumby's local fuel mix. Nice and safe boost curve, way bigger mid-range torque than before. The car is just smooooooth from 4k on up.
