Awesome curve, can't wait to see how it does when he gets a new bpv
Just curious, why the low redline on his?

It's really hard to road dyno the spec b, the log likes to break up in the high rpms and actually start to go backwards in the log . So we cut the log off there. Car goes to 7000 rpms.
The best part of eric's car is the torque in the midrange. We were able to hold it super flat due to fmic/bcs.

Ah yes, nothing like the rpm's going backwards in logs ruining what would be an awesome chart (*facepalm*)
As for the midrange, ya that looks like it's holding the torque friggin FLAT.

Huge thanks to bren!!! i love my car. and he also fixed my idle fluctuation, and it's smooth again. also, bren the 31 mpg was with your old tune. I'll see if i want to torture myself to try to outdo it.

HP curve is impressive, what is is like for the last 1000rpm??
TQ curve is just stupid!!! Making amazing TQ and just holding it like a champ!! Very Impressive Eric and Bren :)
Congrats

it pulls great all the way to 7k rpm. i'm gonna try to source a forge or turboxs full recirc bpv. I can use 08+ wrx bpv, but not 07 and earlier.

Ahhhhh....
I was just reading on here I think on page 2 about a wrx (09 or 10) also with a plastic BPV. I wasn't sure what the last year subaru used metal ones. I know the 06 and 07's do but not sure about the 08's???

Yeah I need to do the injector mod real bad (for my 06 wrx) my duty cycle is slightly over 100%.... If I would of known this I would of done it before I went to get my protune done. I'm assuming once I raise my injector flow rate that I'll have to go back and get retuned again???

Yes, it tends to hold sometimes, and not on others. Some have given up at lower boost like Kaizen's car.

hmm interesting. I havent noticed any issues with mine thus far but i wanted to do a GFB hybrid BOV at some point. Right now I just dropped 800 bucks on my pit bike, 300 on my boat and am about to drop 1500 on my supermoto for parts and labor so I will have to hold off on the GFB :unamused:b

do not get the gfb hybrid. that's what i had on my car before, and it popped between 90% of the shifts. also, it had alot less spring pressure holding the valve closed than the OEM one. i recommend against it.

Sealed fine with oem gasket, replaced with stock bov and immediately got 25psi at the same boost level as the previous leaking 17.
You won't notice issues unless you start logging it. Hard to tell by seat of the pants feel.

I'm kinda picky with that. my mind does not process bar, it reads psi, and understands psi. I want one that will look good as far as fit and finish with the pod mounting, and it must read vacuum, and up to 30 psi. i have yet to find one like so.

Sorry for the shutdown at 6200 - i/c hose seemed to pop off. Great numbers, the car runs really well. Good job Eric. Most important part is the curve it holds 300whp almost to 6200 rpms, very impressive.
We swapped between a Forge BOV and stock one on the dyno and recorded the differences. For those who think it's not a necessary mod let the graph do the talking on the low end - forge would need to be tuned a bit for up top.

well there are still 2 different kinds of BPV. metal (STI), and plastic (wrx/lgt/xt). mine is plastic and sucks. i cant hammer the top to add pressure. but over 20 lbs i think is acceptable for a piece of **** plastic one. i'm not entirely sure of the pressure capabilities of the hammered metal ones. however i do know the GFB hybrid holds less than my **** plastic one.

It made 309whp / 353wtq on the Dynapack4000 with a fading clutch and plastic bpv only holding 13.5 psi to redline. Now it appears in his above log it is holding 15.5psi. So we should in theory see an increase in power before you upgrade to the new goods :).
Also, try a $10 vagcom cable for logging - the 2.0 openport on a canbus gives you those wavy logs because the rpms go backwards sometimes. I use 1.3u's to log those cars for most accurate results. PS LOVE YOUR BOOST graph - flat plateau.
Also the older version of virtual uses the .95 mustang and the developer said it was far too low - try the newest version which he has documented to be extremely accurate. :)

Hows it feel Eric? You should do a write up of your thoughts both positive and negative versus the VF52.
Simple Skillz
10-24-2011, 01:09 PM
The negative thing about his car is that there is nothing negative to say about it, I believe :D
shtbxr22
10-24-2011, 08:09 PM
the only negative thing which I have gotten over is the lag. The power is silly compared to the 52, and maybe a 500 rpm difference between the power peaks, however having a steady rush to redline is so much better than falling of steeply after 5500. the thing feels like it could pull to 8k, but i'm not interested in that. also believe it or not, I got 30-40 miles more to a tank of gas.
