I saw a guy spraying his rims tonight with WD-40. I asked him if he was trying to get his breaks to stop squeaking but he said he was cleaning his rims with it because it was the best stuff to get tar and break dust off with. Being night i really couldn't tell how well it worked and not wanting to experiment on mine I was wondering if there was any truth to this? Any try this before?

does it cause dirt to stick to it after driving or does it keep that stuff from sticking?

Most likely it will, but the dust will wipe off.

WD-40 is much like duct tape, millions of uses.

I might spray WD-40 (or any lubricant/solvent) on a rag and then wipe down my wheels, but not spray it on directly. The thought of that stuff applied directly to rotors and brake pads.... I don't think it's a very sound idea!

seems seafoam in a spray jug without pressure would do better breaking carbon chains.

I found that stuff painfully too gentle for the engine, and when added to gas it made a diesel.:unamused:

what could it be used for?

I wonder if it would keep snow from sticking inside wheels.

Wd40 if its stuck and it shouldn't be, duct tape if its not stuck and should be!
