Just installed a Invidia up pipe on my 02 wrx. and i didn't really notice it on drive home from the shop but who knows.. but all the sudden when the turbo spools up and i let off instead of a simple pshhh noise.. i am getting a very noticeable turbo shutter sound similar to this (about 8 seconds in) but not quite as loud

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ffj01k64AZI

and yes i am running stock BOV and turbo on a stage 1 accessport tune.

My big concern is this mean the Bov is going?
or waste gate sticking
or shaft play in the turbo
or something else?

another thing i am noticing for some reason i am spiking for only a split second to 16 psi and then back down to around 11 when i mash the pedal to the floor.

sorry if this sounds stupid and that i should know what this is but i don't and kinda worried so yea. Thanks for the help

ive heard it from bad bov's, when i was runnign the tial 38 i needed to change out the springs otherwise it would flutter like the video you had.

sounds like you have a vacuum line leak.

a oem bpv shouldn't shutter at all. ive seen aftermarket ones with spring that are to hard do it tho like in the video.

i was looking at another forum... could it be possiably a Compressor surge?

One of my old cars did it when the bpv return line was pinched.

to stop that noise, you have to rebuild the engine around the blow off valve to increase velocity preventing mechanical surges...
just leave the bov hooked up, remove entire drivetrain, dismantle, and put it back together with something stronger in the engine.

about one minute in the vid...

did it not go slamming boost through 3 gears... and the car in front did not get any closer...
:unamused:
that was not my imagination.

I gots dat bov! Synapse ftw! :spin:

Anywho, yeah... I was thinking the bpv wasn't working correctly... the vac hose idea isn't a bad start, wouldn't have thought of that one right off... I think too complicated, not stupidly easy...
