What tune and other options would you folks recommend for a stock Impreza 2.5i?

The basics at first, a good intake and exhaust combination. You need to get your car flowing better first. The next thing I'd do is probably hit up Bren Tuning for a tune. If you want to really crazy with your engine, I'd look into upgraded camshafts.

I was wondering what the tune alone would do for it? In my VW Jetta TDI Diesel I had a stage 2 chip in it, everythign else was stock. I noticed a HUGE difference as soon as it was chipped.

What do they charge for a tune and where is that guy located?

Bren's tunes are anywhere from $150-$200ish and he lives just south of worcester, ma. You should check out his vendor thread here in the forums and maybe shoot him a pm with any specific questions. He also has a "ask a tuner" thread. There are guys on here like mdungelman, who have their NAs tuned by him, that you can also get info from.

And before you ask, no there is no "chipping" the Subaru ECU. A lot can be done on the 2.5i's despite not having a large following. I know a few who have retrofitted turbo setups on light boost, to those who are all about suspension, to pushing ad many of the little NA upgrades they can and be content with that.
Intake, catback, high flow cat pipe, headers, cam shafts, lightened pulleys and/or flywheel, and of course lighter wheels! All that and more. Have fun and make it your own.

Is the car stock right now? If it is, doing some basic mods will make it a totally different vehicle. An aftermarket rear swaybar (fitment for 02-07 WRX) and hardened shifter bushings will make it tons more fun.
