My plan is in the next year or so to get a set of Volk TE37 18x8.5's. But even when I have those, I plan to keep my factory wheels for winters. So I was wondering if anyone had some input on painting my factory rims, probably black, and then on top of that, anyone with some experience that could tell me how, or preferably help so I don't **** it up, would be super appreciated.

Mmmmmm..... TE37's :) Trade in the Rex for an STi so I an steal the Volks when you aren't looking.
As long as you clean the wheels very well then rough up the surface to have something for the paint to bond to it's just a matter of taking your time, keeping a reasonable distance with the can or gun, and do lots of even light layers. As for what paint to use... IDK Duplicolor probably has a lot of good choices.

If you go to an Autozone or equivalent they sell actual wheel painting paint. I would suggest getting the clear coat as well.

I painted the stock wheels on my Mazda. What I did was cleaned them really well and used a 3m scratch pad to rough up the surface. Then I used regular automotive paint but I did mine at my buddies body shop. If you use the Duplicolor spray do even coats and if I remember right you do not have to clear them because that paint is a single stage with clear in it.

let me know what you want to use for paint/primer/clear.. anything.. cuz I gots da hookup! basically... any car color you've ever seen I can get mixed (as long as its single stage.. no tri-coats or anything super fancy..) my uncle owns an automotive refinishing supply company and color matches/mixes paint in the shop. which means he can pull up any paint code and mix it. also, he has a wonderful spray can machine.. so he can mix the paint, and put it into a spraycan for you.. fu** a bunch of duplicolor!

Dooood, I would love that, I haven't decided on a color yet for the factory rims, probably black, but I thought about a real dark gun metal, darker than the factory 2010's. The Volk's I want to paint white

let me know. hell.. if you see a bmw drive by and like the color just keep the year in mind and you can lurk through the color books and pull the paint code haha.
