I am ed, I bought a truck Sunday. I dropped it 3 inches tonite (Friday). Let's see what else happens.
Btw, it is a 1997 Nissan hardbody. 2wd, 5 speed, 156k miles, 2.4L.
When I got it.

You mean like only needing fuel before it starts? Like where my other project is? Kinda like that?
I needed a reliable car for work, I bought this. Lowering it 3" cost me $30. Suck it.

Run dual stacks and bag it!
squeethebee
05-02-2010, 02:57 AM
No stacks, and I'm sure it will get bags down the line. I might be picking up some used lowering shackles for the rear with air shocks shortly too.
More pics from tonite, I put a sticker on and washed it.

I think the paint on the bed is too far gone to save, which is sad. This accidental pic came out kinda cool though.

Nah, 97 is OBD2. Keeping it motor stock-ish for inspections. I may end up getting rid of it if I can find a 95 back, preferably extended cab. But that wouldn't be RB either, SBC baby!

One of my close friends has done all the work on his bagged, body dropped, V8 S10 so I got skills around here. I may check out the site anyways though, thanks.

did you figure out the wiggle you had today?
squeethebee
05-10-2010, 12:17 AM
The vibey. Huge stick wedged up against my driveshaft. Storm knocked a bunch down and I must have run one over. Was pretty happy to find out it was an easy fix, but sucks I missed the meet.

updates
get the wheels good and strait?
squeethebee
05-19-2010, 03:26 AM
What? The wheels are fine, if not a little dirty.
Updates are...
My frame is only 3 inches away from my rear axle and hits on bigger bumps, so I need to weld in c notches. I would then like to lower it more but need to think about problems that would occur then.
The front leaf mounting bracket is already the lowest point. I could redrill it a few inches up and grind the bracket down, but it will upset the pinion angle more then it already is. I think I can redrill the rear shackles to help bring the angle back toward stock, and maybe grind a taper into my drop blocks but before any of that happens, I need ball joints. :(
Truck has been nothing but awesome and reliable. 22-24 mpg every tank, and gets silly with just a little bit of rain on the road. I love it.

squeethebee
05-19-2010, 03:40 AM
Yeah, driving Subaru's for a few years, I kinda took the grip AWD affords you for granted.
You guys think I should go lower before I start saving up to bag it?
ed
98Wagoon
05-19-2010, 03:42 AM
if you do all the work you were talking to lower it more, how much are you going to have to reverse or rework once you bag it?
squeethebee
05-19-2010, 03:47 AM
Well the notches need to go in to bag it anyways. Frame is still 6 inches off the ground, but I only have 3 inches between frame and axle. The leaf mounts will actually be ground off once its bagged, so nothing has to be reversed, just a little extra work to do now.

OBS I've been what? That thing is half parted out!
It was a good dd (the truck), but with the wagon taking up much of my time and my obvious want to drive that, the truck has just been sitting, getting called upon to haul large or dirty items every now and then and just being an all around good truck.
