Does anyone know of any aftermarket gear kit that work on an 02 wrx that arn't dog gears? I have to take my tranny apart and want to put something stronger in the case.

Think you've seen my thread but there is some info in there on various options. I opted for PPG straight cut 1-4, stock 5th.

I have looked at your site but my guy said that the 05+ legacy gears are pull style and my 02 wrx uses a push style transmission. I would hace to do a lot of replacing. As for ppg i dont want to have to replace all the gears and make it a dog type, i just need to replace 1 and 3. Im on a 800 budget for gear parts

The clutch engagement is what's push/pull. The gears don't matter, casings should be the same.

My set up is a syncromesh gearbox, not dog engagement...but you cannot replace 2 gears for $800 with PPG so never-mind.

Even with aftermarket gears such as Mfactory or RA gears I think you will be hard-pressed on $800 budget for 2 gears. OEM LGT possibly, but not sure if it would work out with 1 and 3 only?

I would call a company such as AndrewTech or a vendor on NES (not sure if any specialize in transmissions though) and they will tell you your options or at least what they can offer. AndrewTech is building my PPG set up. It would probably give you a much better idea. I don't think a lot of us have first hand experience with replacing transmissions so its all what we read, I think if anything it would be worth the call to pick their mind and maybe direct you in the right direction, even if its not with them. Just a thought..

Did your guy tell you that your muffler bearing is bad or you need a new flux capicitor too??? If your "guy" didn't know that push and pull refer to the clutch operation I don't think I would have him work on my car. Also all PPG gears are not dog engagement. If you are on an 800$ budget I would look at picking ip a set of LGT gears.

If I remember correctly, you can do 1-2, or 1-2 and 3-4. Read through Demetry's thread, there's a few links to places in there that you can research a bit more and get pricing if I remember right.
