Hoping I'm putting this in the right place, if not mods feel free to move.

I'm "ok" with Photoshop (well, GIMP) for basic stuff, but that's about it. So I'm hoping some of you graphic design guru's out there can help me out.

I'm thinking about painting my wheels, but what I'd like to do is fill in the grooves that run along the middle of the spokes with either black or gunmetal. So if someone could work their magic on these pics to give me an idea of what it'd look like I'd really appreciate it :)

Please send all Photoshop requests to TankGirl. She has lots of time on her hands and is a photoshop ninja. Tell her Jack sent you.

I did pull this down to try my hand at it, but didn't have the heart to the the OP that if you just paint the grooves, it will likely look terrible. Either that or my ps skills have gone down the crapper

If you want solid color for the whole wheel, I can do that! :)

I like the black over gunmetal.. more of a cool contrast!

Oh I guess I shoulda read everything first huh...
TankGirl if you ever want me to show you some tricks I'd be more than happy to :) When it comes to altering colors of objects in photos, I use the pen tool a lot (for a nice smooth line), as well as different selection modifications (to accurately blend the modified parts into the base photograph). I also use a Wacom tablet, which helps a lot when hand-rendering art.

I agree, black is better though I'm not sure how much you'll actually see it. Don't know until you try it out I guess!

As for technique, I do about the same. I like to use quickmask to select the area and use the hue/saturation sliders to get a good, realistic looking color overlay. I did my wheels awhile back to see what color I wanted, and they came out great in Photoshop. (I'd link them but I'm on my phone.) I've yet to actually paint them though, as I'm waiting to put on my summer wheels. Also, I

Thank you soooo much (and thank you TankGirl for givin it a try :) ).
I definately like the black more then the gunmetal, and now after seeing it I think if I do the centercaps black as well it would look awesome for what I'm going for (planning to do my scoop and roof black as well, but I think all black rims would be too much, as well as a bit too flashy).

Thanks again :)
