If you got a kartboy or cobb it will be very easy just pop off the trim around the shifter, take off the knob and push back toward the rear seats on the shift lever. The lever will come free from its place. To put it in you will need a plastic mallet or a hammer and block of wood because it is a b*tch to get back in.

Do i need to take the plastic surrounding the shifter off?

gonna need it up on jackstands or ramps to put the bushings in, it's not just the shifter going in
