Problem: 05 STI 67k miles eating coolant and oil<<<<both found in intercooler also
Compression test done in buddys garage.

test results:
LR: 115
LF: 110
RR: 105
RF: 110

UH.... idk what its supposed to read but When I googled it I was finding numbers usually around 150. These numbers are 20% within each other but do they seem low to you?

History: Checked the turbo, no shaftplay, no oil etc. in downpipe.

So I ask, Whats the deal?

dont worry so much about the actual number because there are many variables such as engine temp, throttle open or closed, or the gauge itself. What you want to look at is the difference between them which looks good. since there is oil and coolant in the intercooler its not the motor. there is no way for it to get in there from the motor but i suspect a blown turbo. If the turbo is bad you should run the car anymore like this because if both oil and coolant are getting into the intercooler then you may be getting coolant into the oil and could spin a bearing if it is run like that.

Damn seems low, but they are all within 10 which is good.

im thinking head gasket and I inspected the turbo which looks good.

a blown headgasket will notand can not get any coolant/oil into your intercooler. the turbo may feel/look ok but i suspect the seals are blown allowing fluids to get by under pressure.

Looks like the turbo. mine looked the same way when my stock turbo went. turbo boost was off and car seemed like it would boost up, slow down, and boost up again. Does yours do that?

sounds like an issue with the turbo to me too, no place else in the intake tract for oil and coolant to come from.
good luck

When my oem turbo went I could tell because I had a bad oil smell coming from my exhaust at the time and smoke.

Last saturday morning i started the car up and when I took off, gray smoke came out the back. It had only happened a few times before, but this time it was bad and I had been full boosting a lot the night before. Checked the intercooler, which was squeeky clean, but the ypipe had some oil at the first bend.

Threw in a fresh turbo the next day and it's been clean since. Old turbo had very little shaft play, the newer one has less and the spoolup is expectedly quieter.

The car pulls exactly the same, I was experiencing no noticeable loss in performance with the old turbo.

This, plus what has already been posted = It's your turbo.
