i've played before but not on retail. (accelerated private servers. free. no grind to top level). team pvp is pretty fun, especially when all the people on 1 team know eachother and can coordinate attacks on vent. i could never get into the story mode part of the game, and sure as hell would never pay to play it.

i dont understand the point of the game...

think of the off topic section of this forum. but members are personified. and other people come around and try to kill you every now and then.

I can play wow and not abandon a child in the process. YES some people get rediculously addicted to the game but not everyone does. Everything you do needs to be done in moderation.

I not only play to get to the end game content but I role play as well. It stretches my creativity and imagination and I'm getting better at writing because I write stories to go along with it.

In all honesty, if I had a decent computer, I would probably play. It isn't that expensive a month and the best part is the game keeps going. Plus every once and a while its fun to just run around and kill stuff. :lol:

that's my other spec. My raiding spec is Arcane but I can switch to frost whenever needed. I miss my frost spec....but Arcane is just so much better DPS wise that my frost is generally PVP only.

I rock Arcane for PvE and PvP. :) I probably need to go frost PvP for this season, but... I'm gonna try Arcane first. Nothing quite like stacking up an AB on one target then switching to the other and killing them in 2 GCDs. :lol:

same lol. I played off and on since the BETA. I used to play A LOT...in the original content. The last two expansion packs just made it even more of a time sink and I was always behind in stuff cuz I didnt raid. So I have quit off and on again like 10 times lol. I finally got that monkey off my back Feb 4 and havent looked back. I love the game but it just takes WAY too much time to be rewarding for me.

Now I have lots of free time and a lady friend...both are way better in my book :D :wub:

Just saw this thread. WoW eats your soul. Take it from someone who raided 16-20 hours a week for just over 2 years. Sure endgame is fun, till you realize that the 100+ days played time is REAL days, and that having the BEST gear in the game (seriously, had 2 sets of T6, then had full 10man T7 and 1/2 of 25man T7 within 2 months of WotLK hitting) doesn't mean squat.
Needless to say, I quit after realizing how much of my life I was wasting (as well as how much of a letdown WotLK was). I'll probably reactivate for Cataclysm, just to see how they either make vanilla WoW amazing, or ruin it. I have a permanent raiding spot in my guild whenever I do decide to play, so I may try the endgame then, since I'm sure within 2 or 3 months of release they'll be clearing it, but we'll see.

+1. I totally agree. I love the way the game is setup and stuff...but they just nerf and break things and do it all again and mess with PVP all the time. Just got tired of it...then quit...many times LOL :spin:

The time investment doesn't have to be bad unless you let it be. I raid 2-4 hours a week and my Mage has full t10 and an average iLvl of like 256... (5792 addon / 3130 WH gearscore for those keeping track) :dunno:

I do agree though... you actually had to work for what you get in Vanilla and BC (Less so in BC) which made being geared really mean something... it's just so easy now. My mage's next upgrade is either on the Lich King, or 5-6 bosses into ICC25.

So, one of the oldest guilds on the server, still having most of its charter members, is now a few days old with an empty bank. Blizz won't restore any of the guild, the 4 full tabs or the 5500g that was in there. :unamused:

Kinda started playing again when i have some free time. The GF tried it and liked it so I have just bumming around on my lowbie alts and started a mage with her. Kinda nice that I can play with her a few nights out of the week when shes not around during my work week. Soo easy now to level with the heirloom gear, recruit a friend, and the dungeon queues. Wicked fast and easy so far. No real questing for me cept with the GF. Way less time to have to play now then before so it's ok...well for now...see if I get bored with it again lol.

I feel this way as well. I have tried dozens(seriously i had a problem dont judge me :spin:) of mmos and I played EQ2(which i love to death) for a year or so but everyone i played with quit and went to WoW. I then played Age of conan which i hear is turning out to be pretty dam good, for a about 6 months but again no one I know played anything other than wow so I have been playing that off and on for about 3 years.

I have been playing mmos for about 10 years now, 6 of those years with the same people.

Yeah, i went from EVE to WoW. The thing is, EVE lacks so much content. Yeah, its fun to the newbie zone and pod people with a single torpedo. But advancing just takes so much longer to do, and its not fun. Its not fun to travel 15 jumps just to get ganked by pirates. Then you lose your ship, need to make more money, bla bla bla. Whenever i tried to mine in some of the safer zones there was always 4 or 5 strip miners there. You run over to within a Kilometer of the astroid when they pop, and then some uber miner drains it in one hit from like 100 miles away. Another thing that disappointed me is that you couldnt get near to planets, or land on them. I tried to whistle for a cab and when it came near The license plate said "Fresh", and it had dice in the mirror If anything I could say that this cab was rare But I thought man forget it yo homes to Bel-Air I pulled up to the house about 7 or 8 And I yelled to the cabbie 'yo homes smell ya later' Looked at my kingdom I was finally there To sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel-Air.

I was suggested to server transfer to Thrall into a guild with a Heroic LK25 kill... I think I have more of a life than would support that move. :lol: Oddly, the suggestion came from someone I'd just met over a game of beer pong, who was there for that kill.

Reference point: My Mage is 79th on the server for mages. I would be 116th overall JUST in this guild. O_o

Hitting 80 on wow is a lot like losing your virginity, only in reverse.... In fact everything in wow is like real life, but in reverse...

If your cool on wow, odds are your not so much in real life.

If you have lots a wow friends you probably don't have a lot of real friends.

if you can get a group of people together to work towards a common goal for hours on end in wow, odds are! that wont happen in real life...

if you have over 100 vanity pets in wow (like my wife) you miiight wanna check on your real pets to see if they are still alive.

if you have awesome T10.5 and heroic ICC 25 gear, you might wanna replace the sweatpants with the holes all over them your wearing, i don't care if your sweatpants are purple or orange that doesn't mean they give you l33t stats it's probably just cool-aid stains.

moral of the story is.... go change your goddamn pants!

Things in my guild have slowed down recently. :-) We are all waiting with baited breath for Cataclysm to come out. I am in the beta and I have to say Worgen and Goblins are really awesome!!! Goblins are just fun to play... and if you like to RP even better 'cause you can be some mafia boss with a jersey accent. LOL.

AND flying throughout azeroth is going to be awesome! although they aren't going to allow flying in eversong woods which i think is DUMB.

So I got that new comp a couple months ago and picked up WOW. got the original and then bought the WoTLK and Cataclysm. have 3 Charecters that im working on on the Uldaman server. a level 42 troll hunter, 21 human warrior, and a 18 goblin warrior. I like the game a lot. I do mostly quests, but i have done two instances and one game of capture the flag. It's a fun way to check out of the real world for a bit. I maybe play every other day for a couple hours, usually switching between the three guys.

I also started a little while back... my brother-in-law and his wife got me to start. So now i have a lvl 26 Tauren Hunter, lvl 20 Dwarven Shaman, and a lvl 13 Blood Elf Rogue.

I also did the complete opposite that I probably should've done. The dwarf is an herbalist who does inscription (in a world full of ore) and my blood elf does mining and jewelcrafting (in a world full of flowers, and a race who gets an enchanting bonus)...
