Hey guys, this wont be happening for sometime, unless i find a killer deal, but i want to start my research.
i'm looking into getting a full sti engine and drivetrain swap and i'm looking to see where about to go to find good deals on used engines, and good deals on the labor of doing the swap. i would love to do it myself, but i dont know much, or anything, about doing them, and i'd like to have the piece of mind that if something goes wrong, i have someone to blame thats not myself.
i know if ECS, is there any other shops that you guys would recommend? also, if you come acrossed any totalled sti's, please let me know.
Thanks

You are not going to find a good deal on that kind of thing. It is extremely pricey. Try 8 grand for parts then add an assload of labor time.

you ever think about doing a dog box and just getting a built 2.5 short block
or you can do what I did. I just traded my 04 wrx in for a sti:D

i would, but i love my bugeye, and the insurance is way to much.
i'm going to keep my eye open for a wrecked sti, or contact cobb, or crawford.

look into axis
crawford is way overpriced I looked into a built motor and trans and all the trimmings and it worked out to be around 15k+ so I opted to go for the sti instead

^yeah, i've looked a little bit and didn't like what i was seeing. hopefully by the time i'm ready i will be fully sponsered. i have a partical sponsership with world one and they have quite a few hookups, so who knows.

just something to think about, ECS is past their time i think personally, the waiting list is long, and they aren't a good deal anymore at all on labor like when they first opened up, plus i know of a couple people that have had swaps with just too many problems, one of those guys being a very good friend of mine, don't get me wrong, his RSTI is pretty nice, but personally i think that is because of the tuning that was done, which was not performed by ECS

I would look into dentsport,
and another motor option would be Franz at justice racing engine's I know ted(nhsilversti) is having a bunch of motor and headwork happing down in maryland. here is a link for them. http://www.justiceracingengines.com/
I'm going with them if I ever need any motor work done and they have a flowbench

Dentsport is crazy. Their work is top notch.
